The Empower Changing System commenced with the design task of creating a modern and rugged battery pack featuring two-way Qi charging capability. The endeavor swiftly evolved into a suite of products meticulously crafted around the mission of The Empower Project: to establish an efficient platform for impactful charging that empowers first responders and those affected by disasters.
Seamless Connection

In addition to the battery pack, MNML was tasked with developing a suite of companion products that seamlessly integrate into the Empower system. This suite includes the Empower Dock, a wireless charger that embraces the battery pack design language, as well as a charging block with integrated cable management.
"Do It All" Charging

The Empower Pack is thoughtfully designed to be feature-rich without compromising portability and aesthetics. The two-way Qi capability allows simultaneous charging of the phone and battery, while the integrated MagSafe ensures the Pack operates at peak efficiency. Additionally, a small screen displays the battery percentage, providing reassurance that power is always readily available.

MNML's in-house engineering team played a pivotal role throughout the design and refinement process, allowing us to uphold the design intent from inception to the final product. Considerable thought went into selecting the optimal battery for our target size, meeting capacity expectations, and strategically positioning the Qi components as close to the phone as possible for maximum efficiency.
Materials were chosen with care to create the most sustainable product, opting for recyclable and composite polymers without compromising on a premium feel. The packaging was also designed to efficiently and sustainably house the different options within the Empower system.
