Guy Shield for Airbnb

The creative collaboration between Guy Shield and Airbnb started a few years back when Guy did an illustration for Airbnb Magazine. Then in 2020 Airbnb approached Jacky Winter and the first of many projects came to life.
Since then Jacky Winter has produced a variety of projects for Airbnb, from dedicated homepage illustrations to illustrations on feature pages and then, in 2021, illustrations on digital gift cards.
For his most recent gift card, Guy explored concepts that spanned a wide variety of home types, vacation types, experiences and holiday celebrations. From there, Airbnb selected the two sketches that they wanted to develop into the final artwork.
Airbnb understand Guy’s work on a new level, and have the tools to bring out the best in his work, it’s a perfect collaboration, and feels a lot like friends working together.
Fun fact: the in situ illustrations that you see on the page are actually cropped versions of the full size illustrations. When you redeem a digital gift card, the illustration takes a wider format on the recipient’s browser and they get to see additional elements within the illustration, giving the recipient a greater sense of being immersed within the scene!
