The Gaze is an art project consisting of 10 artworks produced using my new generative graphics tool STIIL Generator, which I've been developing on for almost 3 months, from March to May 2023.
In order to showcase the capabilities of the tool, I handpicked 10 iconic paintings that were transformed using the program algorithm.
The algorithm utilizes basic geometric shapes as brushes, while the behavior of these brushes on the canvas is determined by the preset settings and influenced by the Simplex noise function.
As a special touch, I've kept intact a small section of each painting by using the program's mask functionality, focusing on the areas showing the eyes as untouched remnants of the original work of art.
These preserved areas of the paintings act as focal points, evoking a sense of connection between the past and present. By combining historical works of art with generative techniques, I invite viewers to reflect on the evolving relationship between evolving technology and artistic traditions.

One thing that makes my art project special is that you can freely use the program to create similar works yourself.
STIIL Generator is a web-based tool designed for creating abstract art and generative visuals using imported images as a basis for creating unique graphics with various artistic effects.
The artworks you see here are fully rendered with this program and have not been further manipulated by any third-party editors.

One feature shown here is the Restart Preset button which can be used to achieve somewhat different outcomes while maintaining the built-in preset’s distinctive style.
