Iceland's glacier landscapes are among my favorite photographic subjects and I find the very dark and almost black ice particularly fascinating, which is quite rare compared to the typical blue ice. On this rather sunny day, the sun hit the ice at the front of Breiðamerkurjökull in an exciting way, its golden reflections immediately captivating me. The appearance changed with every inch I moved with my camera. The ice reminded me more of frozen vertical waves and the abstract and at the same time extremely ephemeral character of this landscape make the motifs especially appealing to me.
