FOLKETS PARK
Concept, Design Competition for a Gate to Jarfalla Public Park, 2016.
In association with the architect Irina Shagalova, we prepared a sketch for the competition for the layout of the entrance group to the park in Järfälla, Sweden.
KEY IDEAS OF THE PROJECT
• Creation of a public space, ensemble of small forms instead of
single object
• The ensemble plays spatial games with people. Its appearance
varies depending on point of view
• Inspiration of community spirit by placing the name of the
commune to the most conspicuous place
• The space filled with street lamps, benches and landscaping
elements allowing different types of activity
• Modern technologies – Wi-Fi, USB, interactive interfaces – are
rather vital necessity than something exceptional.

INTERACTIVE ELEMENTS
• The way the letters are situated in the landscape motivate people
to move. The letters have different size and seem to be located
randomly, however standing close to the park entrance, you can
distinctively see the name of the comune, Järfälla.
• People can interact with each letter in a certain way. So L and J
are benches with lamps, R is a playground slide and F is a swing.
• Free Wi-Fi will attract people from the neighborhood, as well as:
• Variety of power connector, allowing to charge phones, tablets, etc.
• The site can be equipped with loudspeaker for playing music from
a predetermined playlist. However it would be great to create a web
interface, available from the local Wi-Fi network, allowing to choose
the next song to be played.
