Designing posters for 'Festive Seasoning' would be my biggest accomplishment with Brent Arts as an A1 poster was required for print which would list all of the events and would be displayed outside the library.
It was a real learning curve working on this project as this event was significantly bigger than the others I had designed for, so there were rules I would find out about after presenting my initial design.
Initial Design for Festive Seasoning
With the title of the food festival being ‘Festive Seasoning’ I wanted to involve a shaker with festive symbols coming out of it which would go into a bowl. The bowl itself had types of events written on the rim and the title slap bang in the middle. The illustration was hand drawn by me and scanned in. The problem with the design was that it was ‘too Christmassy’ for the council to use as it had to be inclusive of the borough. So the symbols had to go, the colours had to take into consideration those that were colour blind and I could only use the font Arial.

My colleague was able to step in and make the names of the events come out of the shaker and curve into the bowl to replace the festive symbols. With the poster design taken care of for digital marketing, I was able to take the image and use it for the A1 poster which was set out as a menu. A short description with the website was at the top and the events came under 3 columns: starters (Fri-Mon), mains (Tues-Thurs) and dessert (Fri), the layout created enough space for the image to be placed in the bottom right. I made the text for the names and times for events bold, the event location was in the regular arial font and the details of the event were done in italic. An instagram competition for the best food photo was also running and was able to include it at the bottom of the page.
