Print x Cast Bowl was created through exploring the impact and relationship between new digital fabrication processes and more traditional handcrafted techniques.
Combining resin casting with 3D printing provides opportunity to enhance design features, such as colour, texture, and finish, currently unattainable through 3D printing alone.
The final outcome is a had-cast resin interpretation of a 3D printed bowl. A textured exterior remains untouched, reflecting print layers associated with additive manufacturing. While the interior is hand polished to emphasise the contrast between human and machine finish.
