During the workshop, demonstrations were made about the things that had to be avoided to prevent the uneven application of dye and patchy surfaces. Thinking back about that, explorations were done to see if those undesirable elements could be controlled and planned to create surface textures that resonate with Wabi-Sabi aesthetics.
OBLONG 2
When the dye is dried artificially with a blow dryer and allowing it partially dry in certain places creates patchy interesting surfaces.
OBLONG 3
This piece was made to explore the same technique as above in a different manner.
(controlling and planning the irregular patchy dye mistakes)This collection of scarves was made by planning and controlling these undesired dying errors to create aesthetic surface patterns that truly expresses ‘Wabi-Sabi’.

OBLONG 4
This piece was made to explore a different composition of the resist paste. the paste was made with less rice bran and more glutenous rice, that makes it more sticky and results in sticky, dense, sharper and thinner resist lines.
