This work was done in an classroom of a old elementary school in Japan. 

The school is a wooden building and existed in the area called satoyama - a living area closed to woodland - having a unique landscape in Japan.

Ishida gathered various things from school inside and outside and improvised this barricade.

This barricade symbolized  the town for Ishida. 

Thinking or speaking about a town, we unconsciously make a border between the town and the not-town. 

The boundary is like a barricade we have in mind, made of our knowledge, experiences and perception. 

Representing the peripheral area and one's real town, we can't see this in my eyes. 

(It though appears in demonstrations, sometimes.) 

旧小学校にて制作された作品です。小学校は木造の建築で、日本特有の景観である里山の中に位置しています。

石田は学校内外からものを集め、即興的にバリケードを作りました。

このバリケードは石田にとっての町を象徴するものです。

私たちはある町について話すとき、無意識にもその町とその町以外を区別をしています。

この区別をするのが町の境界線、バリケード。私たちの知識や経験、認識から作られた心の中にあるバリケードです。

町の周縁となるエリアや、ある人にとっての街を映し出します。

そのバリケードを目視することは基本的にできませんが。(一方でデモ活動において現れることもあります。)
