The Great American Writers Series
This is a booklet that I designed that was a part of a series of 16 other booklets for
The Great American Writers Series. I did not get to choose my writer that I got to design the booklet for. I was given the name of the writer upon my agreement for the project. The Author that I was given was Hunter S. Thompson. What an intimidating author to be given. The only restriction that was placed in the brief was that we had to design in one 16 page signature. The rest was up to me on how it would look and feel pertaining to our given author. Being given the amzing and talented Hunter S. Thompson there were a lot of directions that this could go. He is very well known for eccentric behavior and heavy drug and alcohol use. Much of what you can read about in his book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I could have easily gone down that path to style this booklet in such a way that a reader might feel like they are on drugs, but that would have been to expected. I also could have just found a whole bunch of info on his life and made this a biography. I also did not go down that road. Instead I striped It down to nothing leaving it very black and white with some extra white space on the side. I also used one of his best articles that he worte for the rolling stone on the death of Richard Nixon
