This is a booklet that would be mailed out to people to entice them to pay $2,500 to attend Adobe Max 2013. The theme of the 2013 conference was digital interaction and the future technology of design. So I was faced with displaying that concept in a print form. I used a looooooooot of contrast and interactivity. Print is the contrast of digital, so that was an easy start, but not enough. I designed the book to be highly on the print end with gate folds, along with french folds creating an interaction between user and book. Using a mixture of different Neenah papers to highten the feel of touch. I took it a step futher by cutting the pages down by hand, hand screen printing the book and binding it. Thus, making it more like fine art and upping the value of the book itself. Now, this is my favorite part, the content of the book is all about print dying, the end of print and promoting the digital age which will be the topic at the conference. The Last spread is even telling you to throw the book away. I took it a bit farther by taking famous print graphic designers work and placing black squares over them or with black square over lapping that then contains a message pertaining to the end of print. The book is in direct relation to the proportion of the new logo that I had designed for the conference. OH and yes that is white ink on black paper! Remember I hand silk screened this book! These are actual photos.
The last two photos are of this book in the Art Center College of Design Student Gallery.
