Tie and Dye with natural pigments


A project which explores the different possibilities of dyeing textile with home made natural pigments. 

Color sources:

Magenta color- Beetroot
Green color- Larkspur flower
Brown color- Coffee
Orange/rust color - Onion skins
Lime color- Grass
Pink color- Rose petals and Beef plant




Once the pigments were ready, they were left overnight so that the color intensifies as the water extracts maximum amount of pigment from the different substances. 


The garment was soaked in water and was tied with strings get a radial pattern. The pigment were then transferred to small jugs for easy pouring. After soaking the cloth in the pigment, getting the desired shade, it was left in the shade till it dried.
