Kalamkari Wooden Trays

The Final Collection
BAITHAK COLLECTIVES

The collection will consist of two cabinets with Pinjrakari inspired doors. The legs will be made on the lathe machine and the cabinet will have doors on two sides, making it ambidextrous.

There will be two wooden stools, having Pinjrakari work and kalamkari upholstery. The legs of stool will be made by using the Mortis and Tenon joinery and the Pinjrakari piece will be fitted by making a groove in the wood. The stool and cabinet are ideal examples for the kind of Pinjrakari work the artisans will be doing; small, less time consuming, fast paced and surviving a purpose in a functional product.

The collection will have two hanging/ceiling lamps made using wireframes and Kalamkari fabric.
It will also consist of two wooden trays, with a Kalamkari fabric base covered with an acrylic sheet to avoid spoilage.
Lastly, there will be two cabinet top woven runners, the colors resonating the Kalamkari fabric and one weave between the two cabinets acting as a storage space for books, pens, remotes etc.
This was a Final Year Thesis Project. For the detailed project research, ideation, brainstorming, branding and making please refer to the link below for the entire documentation and process
