Busy Box Part 2 - Baking Kits for Children

Client : College initiated project
Service: Branding & Packaging

Brief: Busy Box is a new local business which provides fun activities for for children aged 3+. They provide a wide range of products to keep children entertained and to learn new skills. Their two main products are activity packs and baking kits. All activity packs are made specific to different ages and themes. Both products can be purchased online and posted out to customers. Postage packaging is designed specifically to be able to fit through the letterbox.

This project is associated with my previous “Busy Box – Wee Explorer” project.

Each “Wee Chef” is a themed baking box which provides everything needed to make delicious bakes. Each box contains 3 recipe cards, all the dry ingredients needed, a certificate, baking milestone cards and baking accessories such as cookie cutters.

My Process: I chose to hand draw my characters and illustrations and redraw them in Ai using a Wacom tablet. This gave a more free hand approach to the illustrations which I think are more approachable and would appeal to children. I kept this same hand drawn approach within the product packaging by adding doodles as the brand’s graphics. I think this helps represent exactly what the brand is about and also looks as though a child has doodled directly onto the packaging.
