Client : VSA (Local Charity)
Service: Marketing Materials
Brief: Local Aberdeen charity VSA approached our visual communication class at college to create marketing materials, a website page and an animation to make the public aware of their legacy giving service. They also wanted an animation to celebrate their 150th anniversary. This brief was to be undertaken as a group task between my fellow classmates. The group consisted of myself and four others from my class. Together we worked on different elements of the brief to complete the task.
My Process: The Legacy Giving pack contained an information booklet, flyers, business card, pen, stickers and a note/checklist pad. Within the group I was responsible for creating the legacy folder, stickers, notepad/checklist pad and the animations.
Notes/checklist pad & Stickers:
We all know that everyone loves a freebee! With this in mind I knew I wanted the pack to contain a lot more than just the booklet. Legacy giving can be a sensitive subject and I wanted it to contain other things that would make the folder more engaging. I had an idea to include a checklist & notepad so that users can take it with them for meetings with solicitors or with VSA. Or they could use it in their personal lives. I also added a sticker pack for organisation which can be used next to the checklist, to tab pages within the booklet. Each page of the pad alternates between a notes page and a checklist. The first page is example of what someone could include in a checklist, with the rest of the pad being blank to write your own.
From the start I had envisioned in my head how I wanted the folder to look. I knew I wanted the opening fold of the folder to be the shape of the VSA logo. The curve in the logo works great as an easy opening to the folder. I incorporated the VSA splash within the pocket of the folder to give a short description of the pack, this can also be seen when the flap of the folder is shut. The pocket of the folder also contains a placeholder for a business card which can contain contact details for the dedicated member of staff within the legacy giving department.
For the back of the folder, I felt that it was better to include the 150th logo and the tag line – I felt that this fitted in well with the personal approach we were going for and really gets across to people how long VSA have been supporting people.
For the animation I know that talking about legacy giving can be a sensitive subject and that it shouldn't force the public to donate therefore I centred the video around saying “Thank you”. Thank you for those who have already donated - for helping VSA support and change lives for the future. The 150th anniversary animation was created to show to the public how long VSA have been helping and supporting people and that they will continue to do this in the future.
