It was an honour & a pleasure to create the cover art for David Mitchell's latest novel, Utopia Avenue, published by Sceptre Books.
I read Cloud Atlas when it came out in 2004 and was blown away. So it was a strange kind of joyful experience to be asked to work on this, David Mitchell's 8th novel (and another chapter in the "meta novel" of his fictional universe), 16 years later. It's a psychedelic rags-to-riches story about a fictional English band in the 1960s.

It was decided that the type needed to be super-legible, to maximise its readability on the shelf, so the existing type was removed, leaving the abstract pattern, and a bolder type solution was used instead.
