Branding
The Law School of the University of Lisbon

The Law School of the University of Lisbon (Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de de Lisboa, FDUL) is an institution for creation, transmission and dissemination of culture and science, in the field of legal disciplines in all its forms and other disciplines related to them.

To design the new FDUL logo, it was used, considering their close relationship with the Justice and Law symbology, two mandatory elements — the Sword and the Scale.
In addition to the two required symbols, the Book and the Raven were also added to complete de set.

The interest focus of FDUL are the teaching and transmission of legal disciplines, so the Book, symbol of knowledge, justifies the task of FDUL. The Crow, one of the Lisbon’s coat of arms elements, establishes the relationship to the city, where the faculty is located.

Assuming that the law and right should be perceived and implemented clearly and unequivocally, we performed a logo deconstruction exercise for the new identity, in which its icons are represented isolated to enhance their meanings and impartiality. Together, the Balance and the Sword represent the Law Faculty, the Book and the Raven symbolise the University of Lisbon.
The logo is black and white as justice itself must be, without doubt and balanced by its poles.

Equality in law.
