A candle is brutally sliced with a knife cut by cut. Thinner and thinner, smaller and smaller
untill hardly anything is left that one could call a candle anymore. But a candle IS a candle
and therefore it will burn. Even longer than one should expect....
This movie was made after listening to a story about the Holocaust and the inhumane activities in concentration camps, Auschwitz in particular. Initially the cutting illustrates the humiliation, hurt and suffering which took place. But in the end, however, there is always something alive which never can be reached/can be killed. There always remains something
of individuality and hope. Illustrated by the flame of the candle, which continues to burn and burn as long as any of its substance remains.
