What is it?
MTV Covershoot was designed and built as an easy, fun and social way for users and their friends to enjoy 15 seconds of fame and be on the front cover of mock MTV magazines such as 'Guido' and 'Fugly'!
Users can take a picture or use a saved one, then edit the headline to create their own personal cover. They can play a game with up to 5 other people: strike the best pose, prompted by the app, and share the most embarrasing and hilarious ones with their friends on Facebook and Twitter.

My role
I took the initial look and feel and designed over 40 different screens for this visually rich looking app. I designed a third of the different magazine cover templates. I also designed the App Store and press release image assets.
I also wrote the voiceover script. I worked out every line, with 8 variations for each, so that the audio did not become repetitive and the user had a different experience each time they used the app. I recorded audio test samples for the developers to use, making sure the audio files were as small as possible in file size so the app could be downloaded over a 3G or 4G network. Finally, I worked with a voiceover artist in a recording studio and produced the final audio files.
Once in development, I tested the app thoroughly round after round until we ironed out the last few bugs, design or UX issues we came across.
