Search & Rescue Dog World Championship visual identity
This is another fee-free project for my dear dog-lover friend. Croatian Rescue Dog Association organized 14th Search & Rescue Dog World Championship in Samobor, Croatia.
This championship is held in different country every year under the patronage of IRO - International Rescue Dog Organisation. And every year, new visual identity emerges that follows the event itself. Identity consists of trademark/logo which is traditionally first announced a year ahead, at previous championship event, with promotional brochures and stickers.
During the event itself, many more were required. Official catalog contains lists of all participants and curriculum of their competitions as well as additional information needed to help people from all over the world to experience championship and domestic culture in the best possible way.
While producing official logo for the event, I tried to tell the story by putting together different well known symbols. Civil Protection, which rescue dogs are part of, uses blue triangle on orange background. White cross on red background is international Red Cross sign. I wanted to keep those 3 initial colors and put them together with dog's footprint to convey that here will happen something that includes dogs, red cross and civil protection.
Rough scribbled finish tells us there will be some dirt and sweat (and dogs!) and we thought it would be a charming final touch.
Since black & white photographs were pre made I also wanted to make colorful contrast to them, in logo and throughout the whole identity.
