This woman, mother of famous Croatian fashion model, approached me regarding graphic design services. She wanted to start business from what was her hobby in the beginning. And that was, sewing and putting together dolls from discarded clothes, jeans, pearls, leather and other materials and then sewing those dolls to shirts, pullovers, dresses etc. She did the first of the kind for her daughter, and then people liked them so much they were willing to pay to get them.
On the first meeting we discussed making some kind of wrapping or bag for purchased items. She intended to sell clothes mainly through internet. I suggested that we should not jump to bags from nothing, and that we should provide some kind of identity/label, because she was oriented internationally rather than locally.
We agreed that I should make some proposals and show them to her. I borrowed several clothes pieces from her so I could study her dolls.
This presentation is a part of what I came up with. I was satisfied and was looking forward to further cooperation. She was also very happy with results, initially. And then she called me and said that she has relatives who are in similar kind of business and that they are offended that she hasn't asked them first, and that they could've done this the same way if she asked them.
She said this was totally her fault and that she has to go work with them to avoid "bad blood". But she would call me with some other project to repay me.
The result: she never called of course, and what they did was basically take my work and put another dress on it.
I'm still not sure what happened.
