The European channel Canal + via Capa Drama, Zodiak Fiction and Incendo have commisionned Mémoire liquide and Christian Langlois for the

opening credits of the series Versailles. A sumptuous biopic of the life of the famous Sun King Louis XIV of France, outstanding political strategist and manipulator. The rise of Versailles as a cultural, military and politics power. A fascinating project in which the director, his close post collaborators, invested themselves thoroughly for a few months. Versailles is a original series, multimillionaire international casting, international co-production, shooting in France in English in the vein of the great series like Borgia, Rome, Marco Polo... Versailles is one of the most anticipated international series of the autumn 2015. Premiere was on Canal + France, on Super Channel in Canada, BBC 2 in Uk and CMore in Sweden. The show was sold in more over 175 countries. Versailles goes on Netflix 2016 fall.

This opening credits is an ode of the great works of the Sun King. To the hunting cottage to the construction of the most amazing castle and the biggest empire in Europe. It's all about human, animal and nature sacrifices. This new power take over of many lives and a total control of nature. The gigantic landscape works of the architect Le Nôtre was the result and the inspiration of this opening. This domestication of land and the water set the pace of this pageantry: fountains, water bassin, grand canal... Like no other, the fabulous gardens of Versailles was the theatre of the biggest and the most sophisticate parties and social life in the western World at this time. The most influent philosophers, actors, architects, musicians, artists, engineer move to Versailles to be a part of that. On this opening the conflict between a modern motion design and a kind of classic imagery evoking this "lumières" era and the reform of the french power in a new public image of the aristocracy.

Many visual material, vfx was shooted in film studio with Red Dragon camera in high speed mode: water flow, fountains, smoke, ashes, animals, miniature sets... These live visuals elements was composed with many 3-d elements in extensive post work session by the group of artists of Fly studio. This magnificent and unique visual feel was designed and created on After Effect, Cinema 4-d, XSI platforms: animation, compositing, extension set, graphic animation, motion design, texture integration... A moody fine color grading was made in the Luster. The powerful musical soundtrack is from the french techno artist M83.
