SoSeeds was my answer to the Starpack brief to design an all in one culinary herb growing kit. The main matieral had to be carton board and it had to include growing instructions, seeds, soil and the container to grow the herbs in.

 

The outside leaves of the packaging have the information needed to plant, grow and harvest the herbs. The sleeve holding the packaging closed reveals basic information about each herb including the origin, grow time and amount of light needed. The 'O' of the logo was made to resemble a seed to give a bit of imagery which could be used to expand the brand.

The packaging was designed to open up like a flower on a mature herb plant, once the sleeve is removed. This was done to give the idea that the packaging is growing and will continue to do so once the seeds are planted. The inside of the 'leaves' contain recipes that you can use your new herbs in; as well as revealing the actual growing container (with soil).

Underneath the growing container is a holder to put the recipes in once they have been removed from the outer packaging. Anything the consumer doesn't want to keep, such as the empty seed packet, can be recycled.
