Library of Babel - Folly_introductory project Process: Taking specific references from the book [Library of Babel] that describe the fictional architecture, [light, perspective and repetition] as foundation qualities with which to literally visualise the spaces described in the form of montages. Using these visual references literally, along with modular development, developed form in conjunction with contextual synopsis. This informed the structures occupancy on site and animated the proposal with reference to my earlier studies, to create an ornamental, structural sculpture that exploits the aspects physically that were identified from the prose. Proposal - "Folly; A costly ornamental building with no practical purpose". Although the proposal has no fixed definition concerning its program, it offers a sensory experience from within the building. The final proposal is a sculptural form that purposely defies reasonable scale and accepted convention. A space that creates an experience of extravagant scale, perspective and light. The qualities described within the book. An illusory space. Somewhere - nowhere. It creates spatial definition, defunct of applied reason or definition within its context, it has no real purpose other than a structural representation from the figurative text [Library of Babel].
