Absent - Social Art

May-June 2019 Absent – Social Art
Presented at 'Remnants' Group Show
Patriothall Gallery, Wasps Scotland, Edinburgh
--- Absent was shown at Patriothall Gallery, Edinburgh, from May 29th to June 2nd, 2019. Absent represents a presence, a gathering of a group of people, and a lone wolf in a forest.

The idea initially revolved around conversation. The project took an experimental form to create a 'space' for people to gather and serve them tea made by a mixture of saffron and dried Scots Pine needle at the exhibition time. The research into the use of tea in Scotland showed neither any account of Scots Pine needle tea nor making tea in forests in Scotland. As a result, to create a new history of making/drinking tea ritual, we gathered in Tyninghame forest in East Scotland, with one single wolf who has returned to Scotland's forest where wolves are extinct.

Thanks to Ross McLean and Michal Fundowicz for their help with the project.
