Goldsboro, North Carolina – The flagship network, the History Channel, is coming to the Goldsboro & Wayne County area from June 23-26 to film footage for the show, “It’s How You Get There.” The History Channel producers initially approached Visit Goldsboro, the travel and tourism department for Goldsboro-Wayne County, in 2019 to express interest in featuring Goldsboro as the hero location for an episode of “It’s How You Get There.”

“It’s How You Get There” appeals to travel, thrill, and transportation enthusiasts by following two life-long friends who travel around the country using exciting modes of transportation that ultimately highlight interesting destinations and “hidden gems.” With that premise, Goldsboro-Wayne County was an appealing location, as the home of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Busco Beach and a thriving historical downtown. The History Channel has worked closely with Visit Goldsboro over the last year to ensure that the resulting show will be an action-packed, novel and exciting segment, which is being shot at multiple locations around the Goldsboro area.
“The History Channel’s coming to Goldsboro-Wayne County is indicative of the great strides our community has made in the last several years to better tell our story and become a destination worth visiting. It’s a great opportunity to showcase to a national audience the positive assets of our area, like the ATV park, BBQ scene, historic downtown, and our transportation heritage that ranges from trains to planes,” said Ashlin Glatthar, director of travel & tourism for Goldsboro-Wayne County. “Not many hometowns can claim “As Seen on TV,” so this show is a source of pride for our community. Taking into account the impact that COVID-19 has had on our travel market, I believe this show can help drive visitation back into our market — as well as drum up new interest and awareness of Goldsboro-Wayne County among potential visitors on a national level.”

While the History Channel crew is in Wayne County, a behind-the-scenes promotional video will be filmed, documenting the filming and production of the show. This video will be launched on Visit Goldsboro’s social media channels in July.
Goldsboro-Wayne County is set to feature as part of Season 3 of “It’s How You Get There.” While an exact date for the Goldsboro-Wayne County episode is yet to be confirmed, viewers can tune in to the start of Season 3, which starts this summer, Sunday 8 p.m. EST, on the History Channel. Reruns will be featured on History Channel, FYI Channel, and the entire season will eventually be streamed on demand via Amazon Prime. The show is rated No. 2 on Sunday night primetime on the History Channel network, attracting an average of 500,000 views on original airings and another 325,000-400,000 viewings on reruns. Amazon Prime stream data is unavailable at this time.
