Scotmid Co-op - Community Touchscreen

Background:

Scotmid Co-op is currently in the process of rebranding selected stores throughout Scotland to give them a more upmarket look and feel. As part of the rebrand effort they approached us to come up with some digital signage solutions and interactive displays that would replace the static notice boards and posters that are typically posted around their other stores. After lengthy discussion with their IT and marketing teams one of the interactive solutions proposed (and eventually developed) was the Community Touchscreen.

What it does:

The Community Touchscreen allows Scotmid customers access to the latest Scotmid News and Events, Get infomation about Co-op membership, apply for discount cards, find out about Scotmid's local suppliers, Get recipes, leave feedback and find out more about the staff working in each branch. A Section of the screen is dedicated to digital signage, advertising products, offers and promoting the new brand.

Design:

We wanted the entire solution to look and feel like a smart device, the functionality simple to use for all ages and navigation to be clear and intuitive. We also added functionality to allow Wheelchair users to navigate all applications. The colours and fonts used are in-line with Scotmid brand.

Other features:

We developed a back end cms system that allows for easy updates of text, images, video and adverts plus some basic reporting that records how many people are using it on any given day and what section/pages of the application get the most hits. Based around templates,we designed the application so that if any section proves to be unpopular it can easily be replaced with a new feature or be repurposed.

My Role within the project:

Met the Scotmid team frequently to establish what they wanted/needed from the application,

Produced and presented wireframe documents for sign-off

Designed the UI/UX

Designed and produced Attractor screen animation

Working with Scotmid team, managed the upload of the content required for each section of the application.

Attractor Screen: Playing when the screen is not in use, The attractor is designed to promote the applications features and entice customers to use the screen.
