Of Mice and Men used to be one of my favourite short novels. It was a short book with an engaging story. I particulary liked the cover for Longman 2000 publication. However, due to its highly problematic ableism, it is no longer a story I can currently love.
My objective for this bookcover design was to produce a vintage minimalist print aesthetic. The colour pallet is drawn from the Longman 2000 cover. Rabbits are a very strong motif that reappears throughout the story, hence why it's the largest image. I had great fun parodying the Penguin Books logo with an osprey (one of my favourite birds).
