For this project, we were supposed to illustrate an accomplished woman's name, incorporating a fact about her. I did a fair amount of research on my person, Anna May Wong, and was fascinated by her life and contribution to the film industry. As a Filipino woman, I am always inspired by other Asian women in history who pursued their passions, especially so in the arts. I chose to frame Wong's name as if it were a title in one of the silent movies of her time. However, instead of the usual frame seen in these scenes, I designed my own to portray those stereotypes that Anna May Wong played, such as the Dragon Lady. I also tried to age the scene through scratch bars, grainy texture, and the sepia tone of the line work. While the stylizations go a step further than the title cards in actual silent films, I tried to keep the text clear and let the frame itself tell its story
