Interactive Design: The Fool's Journey
The Fool's Journey was a semester long project I worked on for Interactive Design. The guidelines for the assignment was to "build a functional representation of a website reflecting the principles of user-centered experience design, while incorporating a high level of animated interaction and beautiful visuals." The cards are displayed in the line work versions in the Card Search with a brief synopsis of the meaning. If users wish for a more indepth interaction with the cards, they can venture into the Fool's Journey where the card is not only in its full form as an illustration but is interactive with micro-animations to heighten users experience of learning as they play along with the cards and their various meanings. While only a handful of cards are currently interactive, I do intend on returning to this project and animating all the Major Arcana in the future. The site is then completed with its Tarot Reading Section, giving users a chance to experience what a basic reading might be like should they choose to learn more about the tarot practice.
The idea for my site to be based on the Major Arcana stemmed from my interest in learning about the art of tarot itself. I wanted to create an engaging, interactive experience for users to view the cards in as well as learn their meanings. The card back was an original design while the front sides of the cards were based on the Rider-Waite tarot deck which is considered a classic for tarot users.
