Book Cover Redesign: Invisible Man

The goal of this project was to design a type-driven book jacket for a classic novel. I chose the novel, "Invisible Man" by Ralph Ellison, and used the symbolic white paint from the novel as the main design element. Throughout the novel, the main character is never named to the readers and even though he is the focus of the story, as a black man he remains invisible to society around him. In my cover, I illustrate this feeling by having the silhouette of a man outlined by paint with the title displayed using a stencil-like font. I meant for this cover to illustrate the sense of the protagonist being seen by readers but left unrecognized by white society.
