I chose to work with this fact because I really loved the idea of mimicking a vintage blueprint. I researched this type of blueprint and created sketches with the architectural work that Jefferson has done, such as Monticello. The process of my sketches consisted of working on my line weight and figuring out the best way to make the illustration work with the typography. Eventually, I added in more elements that could represent Jefferson, such as being the 3rd President and on the $2 bill, and used those to incorporate in the text.
While working with this final sketch, color was brought into the letters. I took texture and color from the darker parts of the background and filled the typography with it, while keeping some of the parts where text overlaps illustration lighter. The line weight of the font is the same as the illustration, but stands out from the background with color. I also used the font "Garamond" because it has an older style and is a nicely structured serif font that looks presidential.
