Invasion Force ( Unity 3D Personal Project)

LET'S BLOW SOME STUFF UP!!!!!!!!!
Invasion Force is a short 1 level portfolio piece I have been working on in my free time for the past 3 months  .   I would like Invasion Force to be an arcadey fast paced destruction / score-a-thon in the vein of games like  rampage and smash TV but taken from the perspective of Alien Invaders similar to Destroy All humans.  Much like the Amazing sketchbook I would say this is one of my babys from the concept to the high-score screen everything was thought out and programmed by me and it's always tremendously rewarding when I can bring some random writing in notepad to life!

I have programmed everything in this game from a simple A.I. pathfinding - grid system to the UI , basic weapon mechanics , and  much much more!
This is part 2 of my video but really the best representation of the project.  and mechanics i spent the most time  programming implementing it is about 5 minutes long but covers a full gameplay session
This video Demonstrtaes the tutorial mode for Invasion force where you can go Over the Game Mechanics, weaponry, and play target practice with the enemies.
I decided to take a trip to the unty store for this title to make this project a more visually pleasing than some of my other portfolio pieces .  Here we have a view of the Haunebu 1 ( created by the  nowteam ) as it moves toward one of the Safehouses built for the citizens of Metropolis .
My Very Simple Main Menu , as we gaze upon an Alien  Hologram- Dossier cotaining  all the important mission info . These four top settings allow you to begin the invasion ( start game) , get a better look at the console for mission information (Info), enter the Training simulation to test your ships capabilities and get familiar with the controls( training), and lastly view the Credits for the game ( Credits of course) .
This is Our infrmation Console which Give the player a high-level idea of what to expect during the invasion as well as how to interact with certain things. Here we are peering at information on the Haunebu II Invasion Vessel.
This is the Training Room , an untimed environment inwhich the player can destroy as many structures and test all the ships weapons to their fullest.  on the lower left oyu can see the information console in Training mode it tells you how to control your ship. In-Game it will update you on mission progress and milestones achieved.
Here We are testing the Abduction Beams' Capabilities in the combat simulator, effectie for getting a better understanding of how to grab those pesky running smoos.
Here is the players initial entry into the atmosphere ( check your log to the lower left for mission updates ) of the City of Metropolis . The timer has begun and we cann see the first defensie forces closing in in the distance.
The players Arsenal includes 4 weapons The Rapid Fire Projectiles ( Long-Range and fast), The Abduction Beam( good for collecting specimen for research ),  The DeathSphere  , a good close range blast that can destroy groups of in-coming enmies quickly. , and lastly the Annhilation Beam ( The Mother of all destructive tools). Here we see the player firing the rapid-fire projectiles.
Next up is the abduction Beam, Good For collecting living specimen for scientific research and increasing the players score !
This is the DeathSphere , a sure-fire way to get rid of  Enemies too close for comfort such as the helicopter in this picture .
Lastly my favorite weapon the Annhilation beam ( A.K.A The Independence Day Beam). Here we see the player has just initialized the weapon as it charges and prepares to destroy everything nearby.
After Chargining for roughly 5 seconds the Beam Drops , the calm before the strom so to speak. I love this weapon as a whle everything from the concept , to creating the particles , to programming the functionality was all my doing .  I mean I did the particles and functionality of all the weapons but I absolutely loved implementing a weapon inspired by an iconic movie from my childhood!
phase 1 of the ensuing destruction as the cloud of death destroys all the nearby buildings Quickly and haplessly .
One more picture of  the ensuing destruction and as you can see by the update on screen a nice chunk of the city has been destroyed as the result of this Destructive cloud of .....annhilation.
I love A.I so It was a lot of fun developing even a simple routine for both the characters running around the city and the helicopters. It was evn more interesting because of course there A.I. are constructed and function very differently.  Both react to the Ufo's position but in drastically different ways.

The Smoo's( walking characters) have a grid like system and they move from node to node through the city streets.  However their path is supposed to be in relation to both the players position and a random number generator that determines wwhether they will travel north , south, east or est.

The helicopters on the other hand lock onto the players position as quickly as possible and try to move within attack range.  once they are in range they begin firing on the player !
