Logo design, brand character and packaging design for a new whiskey brand, distilled and aged in Scotland. The project was completed for the russian division of the international alcoholic drinks manufacturer.


Task
The goal of the projects was to bring the first whiskey brand in the manufacturer’s product portfolio to market. It was imperative to create a strong image of the brand that would launch it to the top of the highly competitive market among russian and foreign whiskey distributors and manufacturers.

Solution
The solution proposed by the agency was to recreate the time and age of the brands main character. The intriguing story conveyed through the intricate visual elements became the pinnacle of the project. The deceivingly simplistic form of the bottle, silk-screen printing and discreet label decoration take the customer to another era by the fusion of the design elements.





Brand Character Creation
The romance and adventurism of the jazz and bootleggers, prohibition and the birth of mafia clans inspired writers, directors and playwrights. To create the effect of immersion in the atmosphere of this controversial era, the agency used unique and recognizable design elements, signs of the time.




Typographic Solutions
The distinctive stencil type is reminiscent of the stamp on the boxes of prohibited goods. The trim on the decal adds volume, grace and modernity to the logo. The simplistic information block, overlaid with varnish, is signed by the blender, which emphasizes the quality standard of the brand's products. The character's embossed signature personalizes the bottle and accompanies the brand name.




Bottle Design
To create a recognizable but unique at the same time bottle for the new whiskey, the agency conducted an analysis of the whiskey bottles available on the market to determine the key distinctions of the whisky bottle in comparison to other spirits. The developed harmonious form is a collective image of a brutal, damask-like base and an elegant whiskey neck. This combination reflects the historical affiliation of the bottle, integrated into the modern whiskey category.




"As part of the development of the brand concept, focused on a variety of consumption situations, the agency developed the design of the flask and gift packaging. The pair is made in a similar style. On the flask, the laid ribbon displays the image of the hero. A special recess in the central part of the flask draws attention to the brand's character. The front part of the gift packaging is split into two zones - the historical aspect and the branding zone", -  comments Arseniy Soldau
