The Raymond Pettibon Artist Catalog evokes the feeling of his punk and freeform artwork. Pettibon’s work often includes pen and ink illustrations paired with subconscious thoughts that come to his mind. To align with his punk attitude, pieces of his work are broken apart, collaged together, and layered with ink details. Since his own handwriting is a strong element of his work, it became a major typographic element in the book.
The book includes two saddle-stitched inserts that highlight specific pieces of his work and quotes about his process. Keeping in line with the mood of Pettibon’s art, each page is meant to feel unique but in line with the work and attitude of Pettibon and all that he creates.
