The University of Manchester alumni associations from Hong Kong and Singapore have previously organized bowling tournaments between themselves. In 2009, the tournament was extended to, and hosted by, the Malaysian alumni association, UMAAM.
The bee is a symbol of the city of Manchester, and the three bowling pins represent the three participating countries in the tournament.
The logo was applied across digital marketing campaigns, and onto medals, trophies, and souvenir T-shirts.
