GREETING CARD 2020
Задача / Objective
Необходимо разработать новогоднюю открытку для российских и международных партнеров компании Omnicomm, которая будет частью корпоративного подарка - набора для путешествий. Omnicomm – производитель и разработчик систем для мониторинга транспорта.
The objective of the project was developing a greeting card for Omnicomm to congratulate partners around the world. The greeting card is included in travel kit as a part of the corporate gift. Omnicomm is a Russian manufacturer of fleet management solutions.
Решение / Decision
Обычные корпоративные открытки клиенты, как правило, выкидывают. Мы решили сделать открытку, трансформирующуюся в шарик, которую можно легко сложить и разложить, оставив до следующего года. Мы нанесли контуры материков и отметили партнеров компании по всему миру, чтобы поддержать общую тему новогоднего подарка про путешествия.
Corporate postcards are usually thrown away by customers. We decided to make a card that transforms into a ball, which can be easily folded and unfolded, leaving it until next year. We drew the contours of the continents and marked the partners of the company around the world to support travel theme of the New Year's gift.
Конструкция
Нам нужна была такая конструкция, при которой плоская открытка легко складывалась бы в объемный шар. Конструкция должна быть прочной и нам не хотелось, чтобы получатель собирал ее по частям, как пазл, а требовалось лишь какое-то простое действие, чтобы ее собрать.
На одном из сайтов с бумажными моделями мы нашли подходящую конструкцию. Оставалось адаптировать ее для тиражного производства. Конструкция состоит из 14 окружностей, четырёх размеров, вставляющихся друг в друга с помощью специальных прорезей. Расстояние между прорезями - это ключевой параметр. Учитывая плотность выбранной бумаги, оно должно быть 0,3 мм. Этого достаточно для того, чтобы все элементы конструкции были надежно закреплены друг в друге и чтобы не деформировалась открытка, что происходит если сделать зазор меньше 0,3 мм или убрать его совсем. Соблюдение этого ключевого параметра и стало основной технической проблемой при адаптации конструкции к тиражному производству. Так как расстояние между двумя ножами штампа не может быть меньше 3 мм, то нам пришлось делать вырубку двумя штампами.
Для облегчения процесса сборки мы пронумеровали каждый элемент открытки, так сборщики знали какой элемент следует за каким. Собранная открытка в сложенном виде помещается в специальный круглый держатель. В таком виде открытка отправляется партнёру внутри цилиндрической коробки вместе с набором для путешествий. При получении партнёр просто вынимает открытку из держателя, надавливает на неё с краев и все готово.
Design
We needed a design in which a flat postcard could easily be folded into a voluminous ball. The design shad to be strong and we did not want the recipient to assemble it in parts, like a puzzle, but only some simple action was required to assemble it.
We found a suitable design on one of the sites with paper models. It remained to adapt it for production in the printing house. The design consists of 14 circles, four types of sizes. Circles are inserted into each other using special slots. The distance between the slots is a key parameter. Given the density of the selected paper, it should be 0.3 mm. This is enough to ensure that all structural elements are firmly fixed to each other and that the postcard does not deform, which happens if you make a gap of less than 0.3 mm or completely remove it. Compliance with this key parameter has become the main technical problem in adapting the design for production in the printing house. Since the distance between the two knives of the stamp cannot be less than 3 mm, we had to cut down with two stamps.
To facilitate the assembly process, we numbered each element of the card, so the collectors knew which element follows which. The folded greeting card is folded into a special round holder. In this form, the card is sent to a partner inside of the cylindrical box along with the travel kit. Upon receipt, the partner simply removes the card from the holder, presses it from the edges and here it goes.
