Houston Open 2018 | Ian Poulter's Winning Performance

On Sunday April 1st, 2018, Ian Poulter birdied the 72nd hole and then beat Beau Hossler in a dramatic playoff to win the Houston Open, earning himself the coveted final invitation to the Masters in the process.

This was Ian Poulter’s first worldwide win since 2012 and his first ever strokeplay victory in the United States. His leaderboard recovery on Friday was statistically the best on the PGA Tour in 35 years.

Going into the final round as the co-leader, Poulter carded four birdies in his first eight holes but lost his lead to Hossler on the back nine. But one-down on the 18th hole, Poulter drained a 20 foot birdie putt to force a playoff. One extra hole later, Poulter was celebrating his third PGA Tour victory, entry into the 2018 Masters as well as a very likely appearance at the 2018 Ryder Cup.

This poster celebrates Ian Poulter's incredible Houston Open victory. It was created in collaboration with Ian Poulter with a lot of support from Andrew Rivers at Woburn Golf Club, as well as the brilliant team at 15th Club helping me to validate the data as always. The poster will be auctioned for Dreamflight, a UK charity that Ian Poulter has been supporting for many years. Dreamflight are working tirelessly to change young lives through taking children with a serious illness or disability, without their parents, on the holiday of a lifetime to Orlando, Florida every year.

All shot data was sourced from PGATour.com and the Strokes Gained stats were provided by the team at 15th Club.
