The Collective Brand Identity

The Collective is a balanced political newsletter aimed at educating and informing young adults and folks new to politics. Matt, the owner of the newsletter, came to me wanting help with rebranding The Collective.

He and his team wanted to create an identity that was trustworthy and neutral, but appealed to a younger audience than the mainstream news brands. Together, we created a brand that achieves just that. The primary logo is an edgy customized serif paired with a handwritten element to keep it light. We use a halftone texture on all photography that is reminiscent of newsprint, and a variety of hand-drawn assets to imitate the look and feel of note-taking and learning.
