Expresso cup & saucer
This i part of my final project at Kingston University, in the long gone year of 2000.
Cork is the outer shell of the cork tree. Its removed/harvested every few years with no damage to the tree.
It aimed to combine two very distinct but traditional materials, ceramics and cork. in a sustainable and modern way (the excess cork dust could help power the ceramics oven). The cork outer shell can be removed to ease washing.
I will at some point upload the full set (including dinner set & thermos flask), which has never gone into production, but somehow the mug & bowls appeared produced by one of the companies with whom i shared my portfolio...
