MAURICE SENDAK
book jacket design
Maurice Sendak is known for his children's books, namely Where The Wild Things Are.  His stories usually deal with nightmares, fears and a child's inner turmoil. I chose three of his children's books and redesigned the jackets fit for adults to read.

Each jacket has the title die cut and a texture underneath relating to that story. For example,
In the Night Kitchen has a crinkled foil texture. In Kenny's Window, the reader can feel the sharp edges of the texture under the die cut. Lastly, in the story Outside Over There, the reader can feel a fuzzy cotton like texture. The book jackets are white to represent a dream state. However the textures counterbalance the cover to reveal that the book is a tale of nightmares, fears and darkness.
