Permanent Exhibition è l'ultimo lavoro di arte pubblica nato dalla collaborazione tra Ironmould e Gods in Love, nella stazione ferroviaria di Ferrandina Scalo-Matera per conto della Fondazione Matera 2019.
L'opera è stata pensata come se si trattasse di tanti dipinti di una stessa serie. L'intento degli artisti è quello di ricreare la sensazione di poter visitare una mostra a tutti gli effetti, ad uso e consumo dei viaggiatori che possono così ingannare le lunghe attese in una stazione di un piccolo paese della Basilicata.
L'opera è stata studiata ad hoc per la stazione di Ferrandina Scalo-Matera, dove, con la costruzione di una nuova struttura, più moderna, il vecchio edificio adibito a sala d'attesa, biglietteria e servizi, è stato completamente murato.
Le porte e le finestra murate, così sono sembrate sin da subito agli occhi degli artisti come delle tele su cui esprimersi.
Il luogo e la tematica del progetto della Fondazione Matera 2019 hanno poi influenzato la scelta del racconto di questa serie.
Il lavoro è fortemente legato al contesto in cui è stato realizzato. Ogni disegno è un racconto, un piccolo mondo, un viaggio surreale, a tratti pop, carico di situazioni, di personaggi, corpi e colori che si estendono per tutta la superficie dell'edificio all'interno della stazione, lungo il binario 1.
Con la scelta del titolo (Esposizione Permanente), gli artisti hanno voluto preparare il pubblico alla visita di un'opera unica, vivibile come una mostra a tutti gli effetti.
Nel titolo rivelano anche una sottile ironia che sottolinea la situazione dello specifico edificio, per porre l'accento su tutti gli edifici nelle stesse condizioni. Murare porte e finestre dovrebbe essere una condizione temporanea di un edificio, nell'attesa di un utilizzo differente, migliore. Questa condizione però, in Italia, spesso diventa troppo lunga per essere considerata temporanea e l'unica cosa permanente è l'abbandono.
Permanent Exhibition is the latest public art work born from the collaboration between Ironmould and Gods in Love, in the Ferrandina Scalo-Matera railway station on behalf of the Matera 2019 Foundation. The work was conceived as if it were a matter of many paintings from the same series. The intent of the artists is to recreate the feeling of being able to visit an exhibition in all respects, for the use and consumption of travelers who can thus deceive the long waits at a station in a small town in Basilicata. The work was specifically designed for the Ferrandina Scalo-Matera station, where, with the construction of a new, more modern structure, the old building used as a waiting room, ticket office and services, was completely walled up. The doors and the walled windows, so they seemed immediately from the eyes of the artists as canvases on which to express themselves. The place and theme of the Matera 2019 Foundation project then influenced the choice of the story of this series. The work is strongly linked to the context in which it was created. Each drawing is a story, a small world, a surreal journey, sometimes pop, full of situations, characters, bodies and colors that extend over the entire surface of the building inside the station, along track 1. With the choice of the title (Permanent Exhibition), the artists wanted to prepare the public for the visit of a unique work, livable as an exhibition in every respect. In the title they also reveal a subtle irony that underlines the situation of the specific building, to emphasize all the buildings in the same conditions. Walling doors and windows should be a temporary condition of a building, waiting for a different, better use. This condition, however, in Italy, often becomes too long to be considered temporary and the only permanent thing is abandonment.
