of Ecology and Plant Geography
Concept:
The Department of Ecology and Plant Geography of the Biological Faculty of Moscow State University was organized in 1929. The main direction of scientific activity is the study of the country and the world vegetation cover as the most important natural resource to develop measures for its rational use, transformation and protection.
The Logo for the department is based on the scatterplot concept. This scientific method is used in almost all studies conducted at the department. It is also very suited to the image of the department. This is a type of plot or mathematical diagram using Cartesian coordinates to display values for typically two variables for a set of data. The data are displayed as a collection of points, each having the value of one variable determining the position on the horizontal axis and the value of the other variable determining the position on the vertical axis.
Also, the logo is based on the image of a flower. This is a universal symbol of plants is the main object of the department.
