Having visited Amsterdam before, I always find it difficult to capture images that avoid the typical cliches. It is especially difficult because of the over-documentation of Amsterdam’s charms and beauty. Everywhere you go, everywhere you look, the scenes have a great sense of familiarity. 

This (small) experimental series attempts to capture the “essence” of everyday views in an abstract way, resulting in my own impressions of Amsterdam through colour, line and movement. This technique is a great departure from my usual approach to travel- and street photography, but forced me to look at those typical Amsterdam scenes in a different way.
