Once in a while, it's good to get out of the comfort zone to try and outdo ourselves. With that in mind, we decided to create a personal project to explore a natural language in CGI automotive photography. We tried to develop the most natural look and feel possible by using only an HDRi dome and the car´s cad file. Trying to mimic every aspect of real life photography, we lit and composed each frame in a casual way, emulating a handheld editorial style. Nowadays, with the power of most rendering engines, realism is much more about language than rendering settings. Our main goal with this project was to put this mentality to prove and evolve our artistic skills. So what do you think? Hope you like it.
For the backgrounds we just kept the dome visible to the camera.
No backplates were used. This approach gave us more camera flexibility than usual.
