Maschinen / KIs kommunizieren durch Code, können aber auch menschliche Sprache verstehen. Im Zuge dieses Miniprojekts wurde die These aufgestellt, ob in Zukunft Menschen mit modernster Technik in der Lage sein werden, maschinelle Codes schnell zu erfassen und zu decodieren.

Diese Art der Informationsentschlüsselung kann heute schon via Smartphone, in Zukunft vielleicht sogar mit smarten Kontaktlinsen umgesetzt werden. Wie dies aussehen könnte wird hier am Beispiel einer Ausstellung im Museums Fünf Kontinente und den dazugehörigen Plakaten gezeigt.

2nd mini project: DECODE

Machines / AIs communicate through code, but can understand human language, too. This mini project asks the question, whether, in the future, humans may not be able to capture and decode this machine-generated information through modern technology.

Advanced decoding of information is already possible today with smartphones, and in the future maybe even with something more intuitive like smart contact lenses. This project shows practical applications using posters and examples from its exhibition of the Museum Fünf Kontinente.

Die Überlegung für dieses Zukunftsszenario ist die Aufmerksamkeit der Besucher durch minimalistisches Design auch in einer informations- und reizüberfluteten Welt zu erreichen.

Für die Plakatserie wurden mehrere bekannte Codierungsmethoden gesammelt und anschließend die Internetadresse bzw. der Standort des Museums entsprechend codiert.

Dabei war es spannend zu sehen, auf wie viele verschiedene Wegen dies heutzutage schon möglich ist. Diese Art der Kommunikation ist sehr technisch, sogar zukunftsweisend, und könnte damit zu einer neuen Form der Informationsvermittlung und -gestaltung führen.

The goal of this future-facing scenario is to garner the audience’s attention and put AI in the context of an information-laden, overstimulated world through minimalistic design.

For the poster series, several known coding methods were collected and used on the internet address or the location of the museum accordingly.

It was exciting to see in how many ways this information could be codified with today’s technology. This type of innovative data packaging could be a peek in the future of information transfer and information design.

Die Entschlüsselung der Codes auf den Plakaten oder in der Ausstellung funktioniert folgendermaßen :

Scannt ein Mensch oder eine KI die auf den Plakaten enthaltenen Codes entweder durch die entsprechende App oder zum Beispiel smarten Kontaktlinsen wird der Code automatisch erfasst und entschlüsselt. Daraufhin wird automatisch eine Verbindung zu den codierten Inhalten hergestellt und weitere Informationen (z.B. die entsprechende Webseite, ein Rätselspiel oder Texte, Bilder, Videos, uvm.) eingeblendet.

Dabei muss es sich nicht immer um maschinelle Codes handeln, auch historische Malereien und andere Bestandteile von Ausstellungsstücken können codifiziert und gescannt werden.

The decoding of the codes on the posters or in the exhibition would work as follows:

Any visible code could be captured and decrypted with the corresponding app or, in future projects, with smart contact lenses. Then, a connection to the coded content is automatically established and further information (e.g. a website, puzzle game or media in text-, picture- or video-format etc.) is displayed.

This code would not have to be machine-generated. Even historical paintings on exhibition pieces can represent a form of the code and can therefore be scanned and processed.
