Rothman's Singer/Porsche

Szymon Kubicki has made a very nice model of a re-imagined Singer - Porsche 911. It has been the focus of a challenge on the Automotive CGI Facebook group, the brief, to create a studio shot with it. As usual I don't like to make things too easy so I transformed the already restomod into a rally car.

In order to make this happen I transplanted an engine and roll cage from another model, built a set of tyres, exhaust pipes, bonnet clips, rear wing, rear windows window stickers, and modified a few other bits all referenced from different iterations of Porsche rally cars.

As usual the test is to be as time effective as possible, in order to make this happen I needed to make post-production as flexible as possible. Once I was happy with the physically based light and bounce board set up, I rendered each group of lights separately along with utility passes and an additional dirt layer to be masked on later.
With all the lights on this is the shapely yet sterile result:
After some post-production this is what I came to:
Then when a real retoucher (Riikka Eiro) gets hold of it:
Never underestimate the worth of good post production. To get this sort of degradation in render would not be remotely possible in the time frame. Then there is the mood and atmosphere.
I hope you like it!

Rothman's Singer/Porsche

A Rally car, built from a restomod, built from a porsche 911. Traditionally lit in a white studio - ish.
