Make a shot with the car the same colour as the environment. I have done this before with the Red Maserati Bora, this time I wanted to do something a little (a lot) more garish. A pink Lamborghini Countach fit the bill.
Starting with a purchased model I rebuilt the areas that were lacking in detail; lights, number plate, chrome logos, grill, wing stalks.....etc.
I then developed a bespoke pearl car varnish with a pink base and layered pink and gold flakes giving warm highlights.
The rear lights are a large part of the image at this angle and crop (I know some will criticise the crop, but I like it). I happen to live and work with a very good retoucher who pointed out they should be on. It was worth rebuilding them with geometry rather than relying on bump maps because the light transport is more accurate and therefore more believable in the final image.
To get that 80's Miami feeling I added smoke, flare, around 60 hand placed pings and a strong grade with help from the above mentioned retoucher.
A far less serious image than my recent offerings, I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it.
