For this challenge I needed to make a low key shot. Inspired by Ash Thorp's 90's NSX (https://www.instagram.com/p/BZKJS3LnGPf/) I found this brouchure cover from the 1997 model. I love both its unconvenisonal angle and minimal lighting style. I decided to take the bones of this image and make a modern yet retro interpretation. Here is the original.

The model I used did not have the cutaway roof so I used the full greenhouse in black. The wheels I have are admitedly not as nice as the ones above but I did not have time to remodel, this was a right up to the line project.

My original treatment (a testament to not working till midnight) was a salute to airbrush rendering, I thought it looked great till the morning. I still like the solarised effect in the rear and will explore this again in the future.

This is a good representation of what was the style at the time. However it does not work as a modern recreation as it ignores some of the main principles of automotive lighting. Mainly the relationship between hard and soft lighting and the current trend of having a more natural integration of vehicle with setting.

With that said I roped in the help of Riikka Eiro to balance the image into the moodier and more silhouetted but natural result above. Here are some crops.

I am sure many will not like the aged finish, but it has grown on me.
