In Transit
In Transit is about contemporary city life, the volatile setup and interactive interface between man and cityscape, the slippery movement among the structures of concrete, steel and glass, and the occasional reflection that these encounters entail. Cities that once were stable centers of empires, self-enclosed universes of states, or guardians against intrusion, static fortresses, points of reference, have been reformulated as fluid and fragmented transit zones with masses of people continuously pulsing within. Contemporary buildings and structures are designed for passing through them rather than stopping us, inviting to stay. They usher the passer-by further on towards some destination elsewhere - most of which become zones and stops themselves in turn.

Commuting amplifies this feeling, making it larger-than-life, providing the situation with more noticeable contrast, with the characteristics of a constant nomadic state: it is impossible to arrive, one can only stop short for a transitory moment. In this project I wanted to find visual expression for the moments and situations that - beyond being moments snatched from the present, from reality - become indicative of our entirely changed and continuously forming interaction with the spaces and interfaces we build around ourselves.
